I had never heard about this bullthistle controversy, but the author seems to have don his/her homework, and uncovered a some obvious mistakes in the past, and brought it to light. It's very hard to change long held opinions, but at least it is out in the open, and if those unwilling to change will now have to do so in the face of strong evidence to the contrary.
